Samsung has released a sequel to its AirTags competitor, the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2.

The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 comes with a new design with a ring-shaped hole on top so you can easily hook it on a keychain, bags, and other valuable items; with a metal inside for durability. You can also attach it to your pet’s leash to track its location anytime.

Another big improvement is that it’s now capable of both Bluetooth and ultra-wideband (UWB) in one package. It utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for close-range tracking and UWB anywhere in the world. You can even use a Galaxy phone’s camera to look for your lost items with the help of augmented reality (AR).

The new model also has a much-improved battery life. It can last for up to 700 days in power-saving mode or 500 days under normal mode.

Sadly, as of the moment, it only works for Samsung devices to track your valuables nearby or anywhere in the world. It can’t use Google’s Find My Device network as it is currently ironing out a proposed spec with Apple to fight unwanted tracking. The said spec is expected to be complete by the end of 2023.
