Facebook and Instagram-owner Meta continues its partnership with prominent eyewear maker Ray-Ban as they released the new Ray-Ban Meta smartglasses 2023.

During the Meta Connect event, the new Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses were unveiled and created with EssilorLuxottica, Ray-Ban’s current owner. The new glasses were “redesigned from the ground up” with the help of the feedback they got from its predecessor.

The 2nd-gen smart glasses now have a new set of speaker drivers that can get 50% louder with twice the bass response than its predecessor.

Meta has also improved the built-in camera. It is now a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor that can shoot photos, record 1080p videos up to a minute, and can be used to live stream directly on Facebook and Instagram. You can control the shutter and share the photos/videos with friends and family with an easy “send a photo” voice command.

The new specs are powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset that offers better photo and video processing and, of course, overall faster performance.

It even comes with a sleek new leather case, a signature of Ray-Ban glasses, which doubles as the charging dock. Together with the charging case, the glasses can last for up to 36 hours on a single charge.

Meta also integrated its conversational virtual assistant called Meta AI, which you can summon by simply saying “Hey Meta.” Other than the voice commands, you can control the glasses using the built-in touchpad and the interaction earcons.

Of course, it looks chic. The new Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses come in the brand’s classic Wayfarer style. They are also introducing a new Headliner design. Both designs come in Matte Black and Shiny Black, plus, three new transparent frame colors if you want to appreciate the tech inside: Rebel Black, Caramel, and Jeans. All models are prescription-lens compatible.

The 2nd-gen Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have a price of USD299 (~Php17,00). It will be available in the United States starting October 17 in both online and physical stores.
