Meltwater and We Are Social released its Digital 2023 report on global social media and digital trends.

The report reveals that Filipinos are number one in terms of watching vlogging content and video games. Meanwhile, the country is now in the 4th spot in terms of countries that spends the most time on social media.

According to the report, the worldwide average amount of time users under the age of 16 to 64 on social media is about 2 hours and 32 minutes. Meanwhile, Filipinos spend an average of 3 hours and 43 minutes per day on social media.

Above the Philippines is South Africa at the third spot with 3 hours and 44 minutes, 2nd place is Brazil with 3 hours and 46 minutes, while the crown is owned by Nigeria with 4 hours and 36 minutes.

Filipinos are also number one in terms of playing video games as 95.8% of Filipino internet users aged 16 to 64 have played one on any device. Filipinos spend an average of 1 hour and 29 minutes playing on a console compared to the 1 hour and 14 minutes global average.

In addition, 97.9% of Filipinos watch TV content on Netflix, Disney+, and other streaming services per month, compared to the 90.9% global benchmark.

It is also said that 48.2% of Filipinos listen to music on streaming services like Spotify, which is more than the global benchmark of 39.1%.

The Philippines is also in the third rank in terms of cryptocurrency ownership. It is said that 23.4% of Filipino internet users own any form of crypto, which is higher than the 11.9% global benchmark.
