The year 2020 has proven itself to be a difficult time for Pinoys due to the calamities that took place, especially the ongoing issue with the pandemic. But as traditions prove to be stronger still, so is the annual rollout of Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), which has become a highlight of the average Filipino’s celebration of the holidays, albeit only in a different format this time.

As social gathering has become a temporary taboo in light of the coronavirus crisis, this means that experiencing the MMFF is conspicuously unique for 2020. Instead of hitting the local theaters with the family or friends, the event will become stream-able in digital format. This also means that our fellow “kababayans” all over the world can also experience the same festivity as we would do domestically.

How to watch MMFF movies online

Step 1: Visit Upstream, a Filipino-made video-on-demand platform with a special section for the 10 MMFF entries: https://upstream.ph/tl/mmff/

Step 2: Select from the list of films according to your preference by clicking on the “Stream Now” button just below the title.

Step 3: You will be redirected to the associated ticketing partner, GMovies.ph, where you can choose to view the selected movie’s trailer or purchase a ticket for full streaming of the film.

Step 4: Choose to pay if decided to gain full access to the movie. Alternatively, if possessing a voucher code, choose to enter the code in the “Enter your promo code” box to avail of its promo.

Step 5: You will be prompted to sign into a GMovies account. If you have not, simply register for free and then sign in from there.

Step 6: Click on the “Stream Now on Upstream” or via the “My Shows” tab in your GMovies account to stream.

The MMFF 2020 officially started on December 25, 2020, and will last until January 7, 2021.
