Disney Plus has announced a cheaper plan in the United States, and may soon also arrive in other markets like the Philippines. But, there’s a catch — it comes with ads.
Called the Disney+ Basic plan, it will only cost USD7.99 (around Php442) — which used to be the price of the old no-ad plan, which is now called Disney+ Premium and now cost USD10.99 (around Php600).
This will give the users of the old plan to pay the same amount, only this time, they have to watch shows and movies with ads. But if you want a distraction-free experience, you have to pay an extra USD3 for the said ad-free plan.
But unlike Netflix’s ad-supported plan, Disney+’s basic tier is quite generous as it still offers the same access to its entire library, allows you to stream in high-quality 4K resolution, and utilize Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced formats.

Although, it’s been stripped off with some extras like downloads for offline streaming, SharePlay, GroupWatch, and Dolby Atmos.
Disney is also offering bundles for its streaming services. For one, you can get both Disney+ and Hulu ad-supported plans for only USD9.99 (around Php554) per month, which is USD5 (around Php332) cheaper than subscribing to them individually. You can also add ESPN to that for USD12.99 (around Php720) per month. For an extra USD2, you’d get an ad-free Disney+. But if you want all of them without ads, you need to pay USD19.99 (around Php1,100) per month.
No word yet if the new Disney+ ad-supported plan will launch in the Philippines. Currently, the Disney Plus plans we have are the Mobile-only tier for Php159 per month and Premium for Php369 which allows for up to 4 screens, 4K streaming, and up to 7 profiles.
