Employing a two-step comprehensive approach, Epson first educates the buyers on how to authenticate their purchase by looking for the hologram sticker placed on the side of the Genuine Ink boxes. This helps the consumers find out if the product they are buying is not fake.

Specifically, buyers are taught to touch the temperature-sensitive part of the mark, which is the blue “genuine” section of the label. Rubbing on this several times causes the label itself to lighten in color. Another is to expose the light-sensitive element to light, which is the silver portions at the top and bottom part of the sticker, subsequently revealing the “Epson” logo in the process. Third, there is the box’s changing color, which shifts in various hues, when tilted.

The second approach requires the use of the authentication app itself, which simply involves the scanning of the QR code or the input of the Random Number printed on the hologram sticker.

Epson Philippines Corporation, one of the biggest names in printing, information, and visual equipment in the country, is set to expand in new businesses and cultivate niche products to gain more market share this 2019.

The company already presented a substantial growth of 23% last fiscal year. That’s a leap over the 17% growth recorded on FY17, showing that Epson Philippines Corporation (EPC) is currently on a winning streak.

FY1018’s growth was primarily contributed by their inkjet printer and scanner business, which eats up 70% of the pie. Second is their point-of-sale (POS) and dot matrix printers at 14%, projectors and other visual instruments at 14%, and other commercial and industrial product at 5%.

Since their flagship printer and scanner business is growing at a steady pace, it looks like Epson Philippines is ready to shift their focus on other emerging and niche products.

As per Eduardo Bonoan, EPC’s general manager for marketing, to become an indispensable company, they have to “continue to move outside of our comfort zone and into a more progressive mindset”.

Thanks to their FY2018 figures, the company saw growth opportunities in their POS and dot matrix printer business, projectors and other visual instruments, and commercial and industrial products.

With that, EPC plans on selling more of their label printers, mobile POS systems, CAD machines, high-brightness projectors, and other emerging products this FY2019.

Epson Philippines has just celebrated their 20th anniversary here in the country. To commemorate that, the company has introduced a fleet of new products for the corporate and consumer market.

The brand is starting it off with their new EB-L510U, EB-L610U, and EB-L610W Epson business laser projectors. These new products boast Epson’s 3LCD technology. They also come with a brightness range of 5,000 to 6,000 lumens, a WUXGA 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, and a laser light technology that can last for up to 20,000 hours.

The new models have an HDMI port and an HDBaseT connectivity, which can control the projectors and transmit both FHD video and audio using a low-cost Cat5e/6 or higher cables.

Next stop we have the new L3110 and L3150 Epson Entry EcoTank L-Series printers. These new machines are one of the firsts to sports Epson’s Ink Tank design, which replaces the traditional cartridge system.

As the name suggests, the EcoTank is environment-friendly thanks to its smaller carbon footprint. It’s also much easier to refill compared to using cartridges.

Both models also sport a more compact design and can churn out 7,500 pages of color and 4,500 of black printouts. It can also print up to A4-size photos and can connect to up to 8 devices for a more intuitive and easy printing.

Other than the new L-series, the company also introduced the new Epson Mono EcoTank M-series printers models, which include the M1100, M1120, and the M2140.

Their monochrome printers have blazing speeds of 15ipm to 20ipm, which is almost identical to some laser printers. They also use the same error-free EcoTank design, has lower power consumption when compared to other heat printers, and can print barcodes for retail businesses.

Being the flagship model, the M2140 comes with a PrecisionCore print head, which can produce water-resistant printouts with a sharper resolution of 1200 x 2400 pixels as it uses pigment ink.

Lastly, we have the Epson SureColor T-Series Technical Printers. The new models include the SureColor T3130 / T4140N 24″, T51330 36″, T3430 24″, and T5430 36″.

These multifunctional graphics printers will come with PrecitionCore Micro TFP technology, UltraChrome XD2, and a four-color pigment ink for vibrant colors and lines.

They also come with a 4.3-inch touchscreen, can handle different types of media formats, and have different connectivity options (WiFi COnnect, USB Direct Print, AirPrint) for a more convenient printing experience. You can even pair it with Epson’s A3 scanners so you can print a graphics right away.

Epson aims to increase people’s awareness and interest on mobile Point of Sale (mPOS) systems in the Independent Software Vendor scene. Hence, they asked the participants to develop mPOS solutions for small businesses.

There were 56 teams that participated from SouthEast Asia. The final contenders were then asked to come up with an app that will use a receipt printer to do essential tasks. Which will increase the productivity while reducing the operational costs of these businesses.

The winning entry was ‘Warta’, which was developed by Lazuardi Widya Adyafora and Ibnu Isnaini Hakim from Indonesia.

They came up with an mPOS system that allows small family warung shops to secure inventory by proper communication with the suppliers and tracking customer transactions.

The first runner-up was the ‘Rover Fieldmate’ by Filipinos’ Jason Russ Unson and Miguel Luis Ting. Their app can assist laundry business from the pick-up processes to delivery.

With the help of a mobile receipt printer, the app can spit out receipts to the customers, and labels that the employees can use to track the items during the process.

The winners were able to take home an Epson Moverio BT-300 smartglasses and a cash prize. The contest gave an opportunity for the developers to showcase their ideas for innovations to help small businesses. It also shows how you can utilize Epson products in different applications that will fit for your business needs.

Epson also introduced their new SureColor F2130 product. This new machine allows businesses to print graphics directly to any clothing garments.

This direct-to-garment textile printer is equipped with PrecisionCore printhead technology which can accommodate up to 25mm thick t-shirts. The printer uses Epson’s own UltraChrom DG Ink which assures accurate and bright colors.

The Epson SureColor printer also comes with a creator color software which allows the user to fully customize their design, and visualize how it will look like once it gets printed out on a garment.

Other than the new direct-to-garment textile printer, Epson also demonstrated their monstrous WorkForce Enterprise A3 multifunction network printers — a product meant for larger businesses and busy offices.

These machines are also powered by their PrecisionCore technology, which provides one of the best results in inkjet printing. It has ISO printing speeds of 24ppm, has a high-yield cartridge-free ink that can print on 84,000 pages, and it can even do wide-formats up to 13″ x 19″.

These new inkjet printers are also compatible with Epson Connect, so you can use it remotely whenever you are or whatever device you are using (smartphones, tablet, etc.).

These are just some of the new products that Epson is currently offering in the market. The company hopes that it will help continue its growth, given that it has achieved a 20% average growth in the last five years.

Epson has the majority of market share in the inkjet printer market. According to IDC’s recent report, Epson’s name is at the 55% of the sold inkjet printers in 2017. The company has also dominated the projector category with their 58% market share last year.

The Epson LightScene EV-100 series comes with a Content Manager filled with templates and what not so you can hit the ground running once you get it. And since it’s supposed to be installed in high and hard to reach locations, you can control it remotely via a computer or any smart devices using the Epson Web Control program.
