For years, security has been a common concern among Android device users, especially when installing applications or using the system’s unique features.

Well, worry no more because Google has recently announced an upgrade to its new built-in protection software. This crucial upgrade promises users that malicious activities will not bypass detection to keep devices safe.

The software is called Google Play Protect and, like trusted and effective antivirus apps that can be installed for Android, it scans all existing and newly downloaded applications for possible threats. The best part is that Play Protect is already a part of Android devices.

According to Google, their upgrade scans 125 billion apps every day to ensure users remain free from threats such as malware. Play Protect extracts vital signals from scanned apps and then sends them back to Google for a code-level evaluation.

Google will then use the collected information to ensure that Android devices are safer by stopping users from installing apps that are deemed dangerous. Hackers and cybercriminals are constantly finding their own upgraded ways of bypassing security systems.

Polymorphic malware is just one of their methods that allows them to change identifiable features to avoid detection constantly. Hackers also use social engineering and suspicious links to make innocent users install malicious apps.

These dangerous ways cybercriminals continue to find new methods of destructing user experience, which prompted Google to upgrade Play Protect and bring real-time scanning and better security to the Android experience.

While Google Play Protect is initially available in India and other select countries, but it will soon roll out globally in the coming months.
